Unless it’s a sellout — when the total sales are obvious — don’t expect to know how many tickets Atlanta United has sold for any of its remaining home games before they are played during its inaugural MLS season.

Though the club announced several ticket-sales milestones ahead of selling out its season-opening game against New York Red Bulls, an Atlanta United spokeswoman on Tuesday, and repeated on Wednesday, that the club won’t release specific ticket-sales numbers prior to its remaining home games. Attendance is listed on the boxscore after each game.

At least three times since Feb. 24 the club tweeted out season-ticket sales updates or ticket sales totals related to the inaugural game on March 5, which had an announced attendance of more than 55,000.

Asked on Tuesday what the ticket-sales were for the next home game, against Chicago on March 18, the answer was the team wasn’t going to make it a practice to provide that information because it is ever-changing.

The minimum total for each game will be at least 30,000, which is the number of season-tickets sold.

Two emails sent to the MLS communications office weren’t returned asking if the league has a policy on releasing ticket sales before games are played.
