Atlanta United be without two key starters for Sunday’s MLS game at Portland.

Centerback Franco Escobar and midfielder Eric Remedi won’t travel with the team when it leaves on Friday, manager Frank de Boer said.

Remedi sustained an adductor injury, which is an issue that has plagued numerous Atlanta United players this season. Escobar’s injury is related to his hamstring. His recovery will take longer than Remedi’s, de Boer said.

Escobar, 24, sustained his injury during the first half of Wednesday’s Campones Cup victory over Club America. He was replaced by Miles Robinson. Escobar has 17 starts as part of 19 league appearances this season.  He has one goal and three assists. De Boer implied that Flo Pogba will start in place of Escobar.

Remedi, 24, didn’t make the 18 for the Campeones Cup. Jeff Larentowicz started in his place. Remedi has 19 starts as part of 22 appearances. De Boer said it likely that Larentowicz will start in place of Remedi on Sunday.

Additionally, the team will be without fullback George Bello and midfielders Andrew Carleton and Kevin Kratz, who are scheduled to play with Atlanta United 2 on Friday.

Fullback Mikey Ambrose will travel with Atlanta United. Striker Brandon Vazquez is recovering well and should rejoin the team next week.
