Here are five things to know about Atlanta United this week:
1. Well, the season-opening game didn't go as well as anyone outside of Houston expected. The Dynamo thumped the Five Stripes 4-0. Here are 5 observations about the game, and here is a 20-minute podcast about the result.
2. Atlanta United will next play D.C. United, which drew 1-1 at Orlando City on Sunday. Guess who scored D.C.'s goal? That's right, Yamil Asad.
3. In three meetings last season, D.C. United took all nine points from Atlanta United. The Gridlocks have gotten much stronger since with several additions, and may be adding a new left back.
4. This afternoon, I’m scheduled to interview Atlanta United owner Arthur Blank. I’ll have that up on myajc.com later today. It was set up before Saturday’s result, so don’t jump to conclusions about why we are talking.
5. The team is off today and will resume training on Tuesday. I’m hoping to get an update on Leandro Gonzalez Pirez’s injury before then.
