Atlanta United and Paul McDonough agreed to a four-year contract extension through 2022. The team announced the extension in a news release Thursday.
McDonough also was promoted from director of soccer operations to vice president of soccer operations.
McDonough joined Atlanta United in December 2015 after helping launch Orlando City as an MLS expansion franchise. He has been charge of scouting, daily operations and the design and construction of the training ground in Atlanta.
Technical director Carlos Bocanegra also received a contract extension earlier this week.
Atlanta United is in third place in the MLS Eastern Conference. It will play at the New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
