Atlanta United will play Miami FC in U.S. Open Cup

Atlanta United will play at Miami FC in the fifth round of the U.S. Open Cup. The game will be played June 28.

The draw was held Thursday. The winner will advance to host the winner of the game between Cincinnati and Chicago.

Atlanta United advanced by defeating Charleston 3-2 on Wednesday at Kennesaw State. Miami advanced by defeating South Florida 3-2 in the second round, Tampa 2-0 in the third round and Orlando City 3-1 on Wednesday.

Miami FC plays in the NASL and leads the NASL’s Spring season with 24 points (7-3-1) from 11 games. It is coached by Italian legend Alessandro Nesta and features former Silverbacks players Kwadwo Poku, Jaime Chavez and Tyler Ruthven. The team plays at Riccardo Silva Stadium on the campus of Florida International.

Vincenzo Rennella, an Italian national, leads the team with five goals in 11 games.
