Yes, Atlanta United centerback Chris McCann is aware that he put Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the ground with a fake during last week’s 2-0 win in Carson, Calif.
He knows because gifs of the moment have clogged up his twitter timeline and a few teammates have pointed it out.
“It’s crazy,” he said. “It was just a simple step. People get excited over the small things.”
To recap, here’s how one 6-foot, 1-inch battleship (McCann) outmaneuvered one that’s 6-5:
During the second half, the Galaxy were on a counter-attack. McCann stepped in and recovered a loose ball.
As Ibrahimovic moved in to try to tackle McCann, the Irishman did a simple left-to-right dribble, which caused Ibrahimvoic to fall onto his butt as he tried to stop.
As McCann said, it was just a simple step.
Twitter had a little bit of fun with the moment:
“It’s just one play,” McCann said. “It’s nothing to get carried away. It’s one of them things.”
