Atlanta United may be on the verge of signing its third and final Designated Player.

According to reports in Italy, Atlanta United is on the verge of agreeing to a transfer with Torino for forward Josef Martinez.

Martinez, a 23-year-old native of Venezuela, is a striker who has scored 27 goals in 150 appearances in total for four different clubs, and nine in 37 appearances for his national team.

An Atlanta United spokesman declined to comment, which is the team’s policy about any player under contract with another team.

All three of Atlanta United’s Designated Players are from South America. The other two are Argentina’s Hector Villalba and Paraguay’s Miguel Almiron.
