The Hawks’ Jalen Johnson will not return to Thursday’s game against the Raptors at State Farm Arena.

Johnson exited the game 1:10 into the second quarter after injuring his left shoulder.

Johnson moved into position to block Scottie Barnes’ attempt at the rim. Johnson swatted Barnes’ layup attempt with his right arm before immediately crumpling to grab his left shoulder.

Johnson immediately ran off the court to the team’s locker room, with a trainer trailing behind him.

The Hawks forward had been dealing with a right shoulder injury that sidelined him for five games. He returned to the team’s lineup in their matchup against the Celtics last Saturday and played the last three games.

He had three points, one rebound and one assist when he exited the game and the Hawks ruled him out 20 minutes later and did not provide any specifics on his injury.

The Hawks have been dealt another blow to their depth in the front court, with forward/center Larry Nance Jr. still undergoing rehab following surgery to repair a fracture. Hawks rookie Zaccharie Risacher has also missed several games with a left adductor strain.

Hawks coach Quin Snyder typically refrains from providing updates on injuries after a game. The Hawks did not provide further information.
