Stat corner: Giants quarterback Daniel Jones

FLOWERY BRANCH -- Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been a turnover machine since he was drafted sixth overall in the 2019 NFL draft.

Through 29 career games (28 starts), Jones has thrown 22 interceptions and lost another 18 fumbles.

Jones has fumbled 30 times alone in his career, with 12 of them recovered by the Giants.

Jones, who played at Duke, has posted an 8-20 record as a starter entering Sunday’s game against the Falcons, set for 1 p.m. at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

“My goal is to prepare as well as I can and play as well as I can every week,” Jones said. “I try to be prepared and ready to go every week.”

He has completed 608 of 976 passes (62.3%) for 6,486 yards and 37 touchdowns in is career. He has a passer rating of 96.

He’s most dangerous as a runner, and the Falcons had problems trying to stop Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts in the season opener.

“There is never going to be a time when we play a running quarterback … and we’re not going to have somebody on the quarterback, even though it looked like that wasn’t the case,” Falcons defensive coordinator Dean Pees said. “That was our fault. Nobody else to blame but the players and the coaches.”

Jones has rushed 15 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns this season.

“Hopefully we learned our lesson,” Pees said. “If we have the quarterback, that’s who we have and not go to try tackle the dive. That’s old-fashioned option football, and that’s really what kind of zone-read and RPO (run-pass option) stuff is.”
