There is a new No. 7 for the Falcons.
The team posted on social media Tuesday that first-round draft pick running back Bijan Robinson would wear the number. It most recently was worn by kicker Younghoe Koo and, more famously, by quarterback Michael Vick. The team posted a doctored action photo of Robinson in a No. 7 Falcons uniform with the announcement.
Robinson wore No. 5 at Texas. That number has been worn by wide receiver Drake London after he was drafted in the first round last year.
Koo has no number listed on the current roster on the team’s website. Koo has worn No. 7 since he joined the team in 2019. If Koo would like a single-digit number, only No. 2 is available. Lorenzo Carter (0), Jeff Okudah (1), Mykal Walker (3), Taylor Heinicke (4), London (5), Logan Woodside (6), Robinson (7), Kyle Pitts (8) and Desmond Ridder (9) currently have the others.
Robinson, the No. 8 overall selection, earned unanimous All-American honors for Texas as a junior last season. He rushed for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns.
Vick wore No. 7 for his six seasons with the Falcons after being the No. 1 overall pick in 2001. He was a three-time Pro Bowl and face of the franchise until he went to prison after a dogfighting conviction. Koo was the first Falcon to wear No. 7 since Vick left in 2006.
No word on what Robinson may have given Koo to obtain the number. Stay tuned.
