FLOWERY BRANCH -- The Falcons, who play the Washington Football Team at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, could get a boost from the return of cornerback A.J. Terrell, who fully participated in practice Wednesday.

Terrell is in the final stages of the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Cornerback Kendall Sheffield and left guard Josh Andrews, are on short-term injured reserve. Andrews was at practice, but Sheffield was not seen during the open portion of practice.

The team has a 21-day window to activate Andrews.

Safety Erik Harris (back), offensive guard Colby Gossett (illness) and wide receiver Frank Darby (calf) were limited in practice.

Wide receiver Russell Gage (ankle) and defensive tackle Marlon Davidson (ankle) did not practice.

Terrell and Gage missed the game Sunday. T.J. Green started in place of Terrell, and Olamide Zaccheaus took over for Gage against the Giants.

“There are still some steps that he’s got to go in the protocol,” Smith said of Terrell. “He’s got a chance (to return against Washington).”

Also, Darby has missed the past two games and was inactive for the opener.
