FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons outside linebacker Dante Fowler suffered a hyperextended knee against the Jets on Oct. 10, which led to the team placing him on injured reserve.
“I basically got chopped blocked pretty good on my knee and hyperextended it,” Fowler said Tuesday. “I just needed some time off. That’s really what happened. But I feel better now.”
After the game in London, Fowler went on short-term injured reserve. No injury was announced during the game.
Fowler, who’s tied for the lead in sacks with two, had the bye week to recover and did not play in games against Miami, Carolina and New Orleans.
“You want to be more cautious especially because it was on my knee that had surgery on, my repair surgery,” Fowler said. “Just want to be cautious with that. That time scale was the right time for me to take some time off and be able to be myself and play at 100 percent.”
Fowler was activated Saturday, the day before facing Dallas. He played 31 of the 70 defensive snaps (40%) and finished with three tackles.
The Falcons went 2-1 in the games Fowler missed.
“It was hard, not being able to be out here with my team and stuff.” Fowler said. “It was definitely a lot of work, rehabbing and getting back to where I want to be so I can come out help the team.”
Running back Cordarrelle Patterson, who is not expected to play against New England on Thursday night, was listed on the injury report as limited with an ankle injury for the second day. His injury was not announced during the Dallas game.
