Smith-Shawver allows one hit, strikes out five in start

AJ Smith-Shawver pitched 3-2/3 innings for the Gwinnett Stripers on Sunday. The Stripers defeated Charlotte at Coolray Field.

Smith-Shawver is returning from a disabled list stint for a strained left oblique muscle.

The right-hander allowed just one hit. He struck out five of the 14 batters he faced. He walked two.

Smith-Shawver was placed on the 15-day injured list in May.
