World Series Game 6 on Tuesday night drew the highest rating of the series in the Atlanta TV market as the Braves clinched a championship.

The game posted a 33.5 rating here, meaning 33.5% of the TV-equipped households in the market watched on average, according to data provided by Fox Sports, which televised the series.

That was the highest rating for any MLB telecast in the Atlanta market since a 34.7 for Game 4 of the 1999 World Series, in which the Yankees swept the Braves.

Tuesday’s 33.5 rating translated to a local TV audience of about 890,000 households for the Braves’ 7-0 shutout of the Houston Astros. That was more than 12 times the viewership for a typical Braves regular-season game this year.

The World Series-clinching victory drew a 54 share in the Atlanta TV market, meaning 54% of the local households watching anything on TV at the time were watching the game.

The ratings and shares in Atlanta for the other five games in the series, according to Fox Sports: 26.0 rating and 49 share for Game 1; 23.3 rating and 42 share for Game 2; 26.3 rating and 48 share for Game 3; 26.0 rating and 49 share for Game 4; 31.4 rating and 56 share for Game 5.

The ratings and shares, respectively, in the Houston market for each game were: 25.2 and 48 for Game 1; 27.4 and 50 for Game 2; 24.2 and 49 for Game 3; 23.6 and 50 for Game 4; 26.4 and 50 for Game 5; 25.6 and 47 for Game 6.

Nationally, the series averaged 11.75 million viewers, Fox said.
