How Atlanta, Houston are faring in TV ratings for World Series

The opening game of the World Series drew a 26.0 rating in the Atlanta television market, meaning 26% of the households here watched on average as the Braves defeated the Houston Astros.

Game 2 posted a 23.3 rating in the Atlanta market as the Astros won to even the series.

Those figures, provided by Fox Sports, which is televising the World Series, translate to audiences of about 689,000 and 617,000 local households, respectively.

By comparison, Braves regular-season telecasts this year averaged a 2.72 rating in the Atlanta market, or an audience of about 72,000 households. Game 6 of the National League Championship Series between the Braves and Dodgers drew an 18.1 rating in Atlanta, or about 480,000 homes.

In the World Series, the winning team’s TV market posted a higher rating than the losing team’s market for each of the first two games. Game 1 drew a 25.2 rating in the Houston market, and Game 2 did a 27.4 rating there.
