Georgia Tech football no longer playing Notre Dame in 2027

Georgia Tech football is no longer playing Notre Dame in 2027.

The trip to South Bend was dropped as part of the ACC’s shift of games ahead of a second season with a nine game conference scheduling model.

The Yellow Jackets will travel to Boston College to play their ninth ACC game instead of playing the Fighting Irish.

Tech will host Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech in place of North Carolina and Syracuse.

The ACC announced each of its 17 football programs will play a minimum of 10 games annually against Power Four opponents.

“By continuing to ensure that every team plays a minimum of 10 Power Four opponents, this model reinforces the collective strength of ACC Football, supports competitive balance across our 17 programs, and prepares our teams to compete at the highest level nationally,” ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips said in a statement.

The ACC transitioned to a new scheduling model in 2026, with 12 teams playing nine conference games and five playing eight.

In 2027, 16 teams will play nine ACC games, while one team, Clemson, will play eight and at least two Power Four nonconference games. The eight game designation will rotate among ACC teams.

The Jackets will also host California and Virginia and play away at Florida State, Miami, SMU and Wake Forest.
