Multiple Georgia Tech starters on injury report ahead of Stanford trip

Multiple Georgia Tech starters were included in the team’s first official injury update of the season, released Wednesday as part of the ACC availability report.

The Yellow Jackets play at Stanford Saturday in their conference opener.

They’ll be without defensive end Jordan Walker and offensive tackle Ethan Mackenny, both senior starters who also did not play in last week’s win against Mercer.

Safety Savion Riley, who leads the ACC and ranks 11th nationally with 18 solo tackles, is also among those listed as out.

Other starters, including cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe, who did not play against Mercer after being taken off the field on a stretcher two weeks ago versus Tennessee, are listed as questionable.

Linebacker Kyle Efford and center Jameson Riggs, who each started the first two games, are also listed as questionable.

Tech coach Brent Key did not reveal the nature of the injuries or timelines for recovery when asked earlier this week before the availability report was released.
