Georgia high school football in review: Highlights, upsets and more from Week 6

Here are some of the top potential upsets brewing across Georgia high school football tonight.

Below are two lists: The Upset Watch, which tracks potential upsets as they are happening, and The Upset Alert, which has upsets once they are finalized.

• Hebron Christian (-15): Lost to Morgan County 30-26

• Treutlen (-31): Lost to Telfair County 39-23

• Northside of Warner Robins (-13): Lost to Veterans 24-21

• Lovett (-11) Lost to KIPP Atlanta Collegiate 34-0

• South Paulding (-21): Lost to Hiram 28-27

• Ola (-13): Lost to Jones County 17-14

• Bleckley County (-10): Lost to Dublin 27-21

• Dalton (-14): Lost to Cedartown 42-41, 2OT

• Christian Heritage (-11): Lost to Fannin County 31-28

Just like Thomas County Central did in Class 6A, the No. 1 team in Class 3A clearly distinguished itself from the team directly below it.

Top-ranked Toombs County scored 21 unanswered points for a 28-7 win over No. 2 Pierce County on Friday. 

Pierce County was the first team to hold Toombs County under 40 points this season, but the Bears couldn't find consistent success against the Bulldogs' star-studded defense.

Prince Avenue Christian left no doubt in its win over Fellowship Christian. The Wolverines pummeled the Paladins, 41-0, to protect their No. 1 spot in the Private 2A-4A rankings.

Prince Avenue Christian is off next week before opening region play against Providence Christian on Oct. 9. Fellowship Christian opens region play next week at Mt. Vernon.

Veterans trailed Northside of Warner Robins 21-3 with eight minutes left in the third quarter. 

Then the Warhawks went to work, scoring 21 unanswered points in the game's last 20 minutes of regulation to shock the Eagles.

Veterans improved to 4-1 for the first time since 2020.

Thomas County Central was Class 6A's No. 1 team before Friday.

Then the Yellow Jackets handled the class' No. 2 team, Lee County, 49-26. Thomas County Central extended its regular season winning streak to 19 games. Its last regular-season loss was during its last trip to Lee County in 2024.

Ware County entered Friday as a five-point underdog to Statesboro and left with a 45-14 win. The Gators moved to 3-2 with the victory and are 2-0 in region play.

Hiram, a 21-point underdog, sunk South Paulding 28-27 thanks to a missed game-winning field goal. South Paulding's attempt bounced off the upright as time expired, sealing Hiram's second win of the season after starting 0-4.

Cedartown handed Dalton its first loss of the season by a 42-41 count in double overtime. The Bulldogs improved to 5-1 and are positioned to be a challenger in Region 7-5A with Cartersville and Cass.

Benedictine narrowly outscored Richmond Academy in a 52-49 win over the 14-point underdog.

LaFayette moved to 5-0 for the first time in 40 years, per Lindsey Young of The Chattahoochee Free Times Press. 

The Ramblers beat Murray County 21-7.

Last week, Richmond Hill earned a walk-off win by blocking a field goal and returning it for a touchdown as time expired.

This week, the Wildcats lined up for a 26-yard try to walk off at East Coweta. The kick was blocked, and the Indians won 24-23 as time expired.
