On Thursday afternoon, nearly 40,000 customers have reported Xfinity/Comcast internet outages across the country Thursday, including in Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston and Denver.

The outages were reported on real-time service outage reporting site Downdetector.

Xfinity did not make an official statement about the outages, but via its official support account @ComcastCares, the company fielded several service requests and complaints about the outages.

The reported outages are primarily in affecting internet service, but there was a small number of cable outages, according to Downdetector. Customers reported that issues were related to DNS, domain name system, issues.

As of about 4 p.m. Thursday, there were still reports of outages in various parts of the country. However, a handful of customers said their service had been restored.
