A wreck involving two vehicles and a motorcycle closed part of Winder Highway in Gwinnett this afternoon.
Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said the collision, which happened on Winder Highway, has temporarily closed the highway near its intersection with Boulderbook Circle. The road is expected to be open by 1:45 p.m., he said.
Smith said the wreck happened about 12:20 p.m., after a a passenger car crossed the center line and hit an oncoming motorcycle.
“A truck following behind the passenger car attempted to avoid the accident and left the roadway,” Smith wrote in an email.
The truck turned over and its occupants were briefly trapped, he said. Once they were extricated, they were taken to a local hospital, as was the driver of the motorcycle.
The Gwinnett Accident Investigation Unit is on the scene and there are no fatalities at this point, Smith said.
The Gwinnett accident was one of two midday wrecks in metro Atlanta.
Just before noon, two helicopter ambulances responded to the scene of a Coweta County accident at Bohannon and Corinth Roads, Coweta County Sheriff’s dispatch told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
It is unclear how many injuries are involved.
