An Atlanta homeowner and three would-be thieves got quite a shock Thursday morning.

While taking a shower around 9:20 a.m., a homeowner in the 1400 block of Wellswood Drive heard banging on his back door and suspected someone was attempting to break into his residence, he told authorities. From the downstairs bathroom, the man looked out of a window and saw a man running toward his home, according to a news release from Atlanta police.

The homeowner left the shower, grabbed his gun from a nightstand and headed toward the kitchen. He saw two men in his living room trying to steal his TV and yelled at them. When one of the two turned toward him, he fired a shot and both suspects took off running, he told police.

As the two suspects fled through the backyard, a third suspect, whom the homeowner did not initially see, jumped from a second-story window. The homeowner said the third suspect seemed to be injured in the fall and remained on the ground for a few seconds before getting up and limping away.

The homeowner was not hurt during the incident, and all three suspects were gone before police arrived.
