The brothers, accused of the deadly attack at the offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine earlier this week are dead after a tense police standoff outside of Paris, CNN is reporting.

One man was being held hostage by Cherif and Said Kouachi in a Dammartin-En-Goele printing shop was safe town officials said.

During the operation, shots were heard around the area where the pair was holed up.  Large explosions were also heard CNN reported.

The Associated Press reported the men came out firing at police before being killed in the assault.

Meanwhile, in Paris, a second hostage situation at a kosher grocery store came to an end at nearly the same time.

CNN reported the hostage-taker. Amedy Coulibaly, demanded freedom for Kouachi brothers.

The man was killed in a nearly simultaneous raid, The Associated Press reported.
