A mother in South Korea made a daring escape Saturday when she and her three children fell from a building to escape a fire.
A cellphone video captured the astonishing moment.
The family, who is from Nigeria, fell from the fourth story of a building in Pyeongtaek, South Korea.
Video shows Precious Enyioko, 30, dangling her baby out the window above the smoke.
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Daniel Raimondo told CNN that he assessed the scene of the fire after seeing smoke billowing from the building.
He spoke with a colleague about getting blankets from a nearby store and said he talked the mother into dropping her children to safety.
"You could tell she was scared," First Sgt. Melanie Scott said. "She didn't want to (drop her children)."
Raimondo said the woman dropped the first two children, ages 3 and 4, but seemed to have the most difficulty letting go of the 7-month-old.
Raimondo said he repeatedly told the mother, "Please just throw the baby down."
"I remember her screaming (at) the baby, 'I love you,'" he said. "Next thing you know she dropped the baby."
“It was so difficult to drop my children. It was so dark in the room and the kids were coughing and crying," Enyioko said. "When I saw the people gathering with the blanket, I could see it was military members (and) I thanked my God."
Military news site DVIDS reported that the children's father, Prince Enyioko, visited the site of the fire days later with some U.S. military members.
Prince Enyioko said he was on the way home and felt helpless that he couldn't be there to help his family.
"I really appreciate what happened that very day. I don’t know how I can explain my thanks," Prince Enyioko said. "Without (the military members) I don’t know what I would do."
