A year-long investigation has led to a man being charged after video surfaced of him appearing to jump from a moving boat onto a moose's back, according to a June 30 Facebook post from Canada's Conservation Officer Service.

The upsetting video shows a man straddling a boat as it moves and jumping onto a moose treading water. The moose, howls as it attempts to continue walking through the water as the man rides on its back until he falls off.

CBC News reported the men were tracked down once the body of water in the video was identified.

The men are from Fort St. John in British Columbia.

The COS said two men have been charged with harassing wildlife with the use of a boat, attempting to capture wildlife and hunting big game that is swimming.

They are set to appear in court Aug. 8.
