A woman is recovering after being stabbed Thursday during a predawn home invasion robbery at an apartment in northeast Atlanta.

The 46-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, told investigators that she was entering her apartment on Piedmont Circle just after 4 a.m. when a man “forced his way in behind her,” Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon said.

“The suspect immediately began attacking the victim and demanding money. The victim fought back, possibly scratching the suspect’s face.”

Lyon added that the victim was able to take a knife away from the suspect, “and believes that she may have stabbed him.”

He said the suspect fled with the woman’s laptop, tablet and cell phone.

The victim suffered injuries to her hand and neck, and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Police have not released a description of the suspect.
