One woman was stabbed, a second woman was killed and one man was in custody in a two-county crime spree, police said Tuesday.

It began Monday morning in a Waffle House parking lot in Stockbridge, according to Lt. Joey Smith with Henry County police. At 8:50 a.m., officers were called to the restaurant on a report that a woman had been stabbed, Smith said.

A couple had met at the Waffle House, but after an argument, a man allegedly stabbed a woman and then left in a rented white Ford 150, police said. Henry police issued a lookout to other agencies to help find the suspect, identified as Donte Lamar Wyatt, 32, of McDonough.

The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment of stab wounds, Smith said. She was in stable condition and her injuries were believed non-life threatening Tuesday afternoon.

From Henry County, Wyatt allegedly drove to DeKalb County, where he was later arrested. But after allegedly killing a woman in a house on Shadowridge Drive, Wyatt is accused of stealing a vehicle and driving to another house on Glynn Drive, where he refused to surrender until a SWAT team used tear gas, police said.

Police declined Tuesday to release the name of the woman killed pending notification of family members.

Wyatt was arrested and charged with murder, burglary and theft by taking a vehicle, DeKalb police said. Henry police charged him with aggravated assault and false imprisonment. Wyatt was being held without bond Tuesday night.
