The Cherokee sheriff's office has identified the woman who died in a single vehicle accident Tuesday night on Towne Lake Parkway.

Cindy Lucas, 43, of Woodstock, was killed when her Lexus SUV left the roadway and hit a tree in the median of Towne Lake Parkway just east of Running Deer Parkway around 7 p.m., Lt. Jay Baker said in a statement.

Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle driving erratically prior to the collision, he said. The accident remains under investigation, but deputies believe a medical condition of the driver may have contributed to the collision, Baker said.

Lucas, who was pronounced dead at the scene, did not appear to be wearing a safety belt, Baker said. The SUV had no other passengers.
