Temperatures dipped below freezing in parts of metro Atlanta early Tuesday, but forecasters are predicting a late week warm-up that will push temperatures into the low 70s Saturday.

Lows early Tuesday ranged from 29 in Dallas and Cartersville and 32 in Marietta and Alpharetta to 34 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and 35 in Peachtree City.

Atlanta’s normal low for early March is 41; the normal high is 61.

Afternoon readings will remain below normal through Thursday, according to Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton, but warmer temperatures are on tap beginning Friday.

Highs will be in the upper 40s Tuesday, mid-50s Wednesday and low 50s Thursday, with morning lows in the mid-30s Wednesday and low 40s Thursday, Minton said.

She said a 10 to 20 percent chance of showers Tuesday and Wednesday will increase to 60 percent Thursday.

Sunny skies are forecast for Friday and Saturday, with highs reaching 62 Friday and 70 Saturday, Minton said.

Lows will be in the mid-30s Friday and around 40 degrees Saturday morning.
