Smyrna police on Thursday released video footage of a police chase that began shortly after a deadly shooting at an apartment complex Wednesday.
Two people were shot at the Mission at Galleria Apartments on Wednesday afternoon. One victim, a woman, died after being shot in the head, Smyrna police spokesman Officer Chris Graeff told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Channel 2 Action News reported that the other victim, a man, was treated at the scene after being shot in the side.
Three men were arrested in connection to the shooting and chase that ensued after the incident. The three were apprehended after the vehicle they were in — a red Toyota Camry — struck a vehicle and overturned. Two of the men were caught shortly after the crash and the third some time later, but Graeff said all three were captured near the crash site.
Thursday evening, police had not released the names of the victims nor the three men arrested Wednesday.
Graeff said that shortly after being told to be on the lookout for three men in a red Camry in connection to the apartment shooting, a Smyrna officer got behind the vehicle on Cobb Parkway, which sparked a chase. Cobb police officers got involved once the chase reached Interstate 75 from Windy Hill Road. The chase ended when the Camry struck another vehicle on Paces Ferry Road near Paces Mill Road in Vinings.
