The University of North Georgia is continuing a trend of enrollment growth outpacing the state average.

School officials say 16, 064 students registered for the fall semester, an increase of 3.9 percent from the fall of 2013. At the same time, fall enrollment in the overall University System of Georgia’s 31 colleges and universities totaled 312,936 students, a 1.1 percent increase from last year.

UNG also enrolled the largest number of new transfer students among the four newly-consolidated USG schools. UNG was created in January of 2013 as Gainesville State College and North Georgia College and State University consolidated. The school has a campus in Forsyth County.
