Two men shot and killed in NW Atlanta identified

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office Friday identified the two men killed in a Thursday night shootout in northwest Atlanta as Michael Jackson, 36, and Quinton Davis, 23.

Jackson and Davis, both of Atlanta, were shot multiple times shortly before 10 p.m. in the 1000 block of Hollywood Road, according to an Atlanta police spokesman.

One of the men died at the scene, and the other later died at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta police Maj. Adam Lee III said.

“There was some sort of altercation that occurred between two different parties,” Lee told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The subject that went to Grady and the subject that’s still here deceased on the scene belonged to two different parties, and those parties, at one point or another, shot at each other, which resulted in two deaths.

He said others were involved in the shooting.

“Don’t know how many exactly,” Lee said, “but it was more than just the two deceased.”

He said detectives were still trying to determine what sparked the altercation.

Investigators were also working to determine whether a second exchange of gunfire “not too far from here” was related to the fatal shooting, Lee said.

“So far we don’t have any injuries at that second scene,” he said. “We will be collecting shell casings from that other scene to see if they match the shell casings from this scene.”
