Two men killed in fiery I-285 crash identified

Oct 20, 2014

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office Monday identified two people who died in a fiery Saturday crash along I-285 near Langford Parkway.

About 1:30 a.m., a northbound tractor-trailer rear-ended a car that was either traveling extremely slow or stopped, police said.

The impact sent the car into the median, where it burst into flames. Two people in the car, identified as Bryant D. Simmons, 41, and Jonathan D. Benn, 22, died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

All lanes of I-285 northbound were temporarily closed while crews worked to clear the scene.

No charges have been filed in the crash, which remains under investigation.
