Two people, including a child, were injured early Friday in a crash involving a Coweta County school bus, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Just before 7:40 a.m., the westbound bus tried to cross Ga. 14 from Camp Street as a Ford Thunderbird traveled south on Ga. 14.

“The school bus failed to yield right of way and traveled into the path of the Ford Thunderbird,” authorities said in a statement.

The Ford hit the bus on the right side.

Twenty-five students from Moreland Elementary, Smokey Road Middle School and Newnan High School were on the bus at the time of the collision, Coweta schools spokesman Dean Jackson told Channel 2 Action News.

One student and the driver of the Ford were taken to Piedmont Newnan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The rest of the students were put on buses and sent to their schools just before 8:30 a.m.
