Police apprehended a driver after a chase Wednesday on I-285 in Cobb County that resulted in a multi-vehicle accident and delays, authorities said.

The driver, identified as Aisha Abdul-Ahad, 42, of Atlanta, faces charges of aggravated assault and reckless driving, Sandy Springs police said in a media release.

About 10:30 a.m., 911 calls were received about a reckless driver on I-285 westbound. Sandy Springs police located the car, which was facing the wrong direction, near I-285 and Riverside Drive, Sgt. Forrest Bohannon said. Abdul-Ahad refused to stop, and officers pursued the car westbound on I-285 into Cobb County, as Abdul-Ahad continued to drive erratically, police said.

She exited at Paces Ferry Road and attempted to reenter the interstate. Abdul-Ahad made a U-turn, went the wrong way on the ramp and struck a Cobb police car, ending the pursuit, police said. She also hit several Sandy Springs police cars, authorities said.

No officers were injured. Abdul-Ahad was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
