A dump truck overturned Friday afternoon in DeKalb County, spilling diesel fuel and gravel and shutting down a key intersection, authorities said.

The truck was heading south on Lithonia Industrial Boulevard approaching Highway 278 when it swerved to miss a vehicle pulling out, DeKalb police spokesman Maj. Stephen Fore said.

The truck turned on its side and struck a guide wire on a light pole, Fore said, which caused the spillage.

The intersection is closed, and traffic is being diverted. Normal traffic should resume about 4 p.m., the Georgia Department of Transportation said on its website.

There were no injuries reported.
