The northbound lanes of I-285 in DeKalb County have reopened following a predawn truck fire that blocked the interstate for nearly two hours during Thursday’s morning commute.
The truck caught fire just after 6 a.m. on I-285 northbound near Lavista Road. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Authorities reopened one lane about 7 a.m., and the remaining lanes were cleared just before 8 a.m., but by that point, the backup stretched about 10 miles to I-20, with trip times of 90 minutes to get from I-20 to I-85 on the east side Perimeter.
The truck was hauling 15,000 pounds of produce, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
