A man was killed Monday after he was thrown off his motorcycle on I-20 in Cobb County and run over by a tractor-trailer and possibly other vehicles, police said.
About 1:05 a.m., Marvin Pearson was driving a black 2006 Suzuki G5XR1 motorcycle "at a high rate of speed” when traffic on I-20 West slowed, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.
"In an attempt to avoid striking other vehicles,” he said, “the rider lost control of the motorcycle.”
Pearson, 54, of Powder Springs, was thrown off the motorcycle and run over by a tractor-trailer also traveling westbound on I-20, Pierce said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as Edward Williams, 46, of Carrollton, stayed on the scene east of Thornton Road. He was not injured during the crash and is not expected to be charged, Pierce said.
Investigators believe other vehicles may have hit Pearson without stopping, police said.
Anyone with information about the deadly crash is asked to call 770-499-3987.
