Westbound lanes of I-285 reopened Tuesday just before 2 p.m. after “a major accident” at Moreland Avenue in DeKalb County closed them for nearly four hours, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

A cement truck overturned, blew a tire and hit the freeway median around 10 a.m., DeKalb fire official Kevin Cavanaugh said.

The driver was removed from the truck around noon and taken to a hospital with “minor lacerations to the leg and head,” Cavanaugh said. It took about an hour and 15 minutes to remove him from the truck.

All lanes are now reopened.

During the delay, traffic was diverted onto I-675 southbound.
