Hit-and-run leaves pedestrian dead on Cartersville highway
Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run in Cartersville.
A man trying to cross a highway in Cartersville was struck and killed Wednesday night in a hit-and-run.
The incident, which killed 58-year-old John Melvin Turner of Cartersville, occurred just before 9:30 p.m. on Ga. 20 at U.S. 411, police Lt. M.E. Bettikofer said in an email.
“The vehicle (possibly a small SUV with front-end damage and busted radiator) fled the scene prior to arrival,” Bettikofer said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Cartersville Police Department.
