Four people driving a stolen car were taken into custody early Wednesday after a high-speed chase on the southbound Downtown Connector, the Georgia State Patrol said.

About 2:45 a.m., a trooper caught up with the speeding Dodge Journey on southbound I-85 near North Druid Hills Road, the GSP said in a statement.

Two other officers joined the pursuit at Buford Highway, and the first trooper performed a PIT maneuver on the Connector, the GSP said. A PIT maneuver is a tactic that essentially involves bumping a vehicle in an attempt to stop it.

When the car stopped, four people got out and ran from the scene, the GSP said.

Troopers took the driver and one passenger into custody, and Georgia Tech police officers found and detained the other two people, according to the GSP.

“The vehicle was stolen from the CSX property the previous night,” the GSP said.

Eric Davis, 25, of Atlanta; Fakeem Perry, 20, of Jonesboro; Kintavious Steward, 19, of Atlanta; and Kyree Edwards, 20, of Atlanta, were taken to the Atlanta Pre-Trial detention center, according to the GSP.

No one was injured during the chase.

The investigation is ongoing.
