A man was killed after losing control of a Lexus SUV and being ejected from the vehicle early Sunday in Monroe County.

Scott Peace, 38, of Macon, lost control of the SUV heading north on I-475 near mile marker 13 about 1:07 a.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s Sgt. Lawson Bittick told Channel 2 Action News.

His SUV hit a median concrete barrier and overturned in multiple lanes.

“The driver was ejected away from the vehicle into the third lane of the interstate and was struck by two other vehicles traveling the same route,” Bittick said.

Fatality investigators said speed was a major contributing factor in this accident.

I-475 North was closed for several hours but had reopened by 6:40 a.m. Bittick said.

Conditions of those in the other two vehicles are unknown at this time.
