Authorities in DeKalb County said they found a driver who sped away from the scene early Friday after a deadly hit-and-run.

“He is being interviewed by detectives,” DeKalb police Maj. Stephen Fore said.

He did not release details about the driver or where the person was located.

The pedestrian, Hilaire Lupuku, 25, of Lithonia, died on the scene, Fore said.

The investigation into the fatal hit-and-run temporarily shut down all lanes on Covington Highway at DeKalb Medical Parkway, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. The scene was cleared just before 8:40 a.m.
