A pedestrian was hit and severely injured Tuesday in a crash that temporarily shut down a busy Cobb County road.

The crash happened on Cobb Parkway between Field Parkway and Bells Ferry Road about 1:30 a.m. in Marietta, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Northbound lanes of Cobb Parkway were closed until about 3 a.m.

The pedestrian was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta with severe injuries, the television station reported.
