Couple killed in head-on crash in Cobb

An 86-year-old man and his 88-year-old wife died Monday morning in a head-on crash in Cobb County, authorities said.

Richard Dow of Powder Springs died at the scene of the crash, which occurred on Macland Road at McMurry Drive around 5:45 a.m., according to Cobb police. Mary Jane Dow was taken by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where she died of her injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the couple’s Ford Crown Victoria was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it collided with a Plymouth Voyager. The 22-year-old driver of the Voyager was taken to Kennestone and is expected to survive her injuries, police said.
