Drivers heading in or out of Downtown Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon should prepare for a hat trick of a traffic headaches — namely, the confluence of an afternoon Braves game, a pair of Gold Cup soccer matches at the Georgia Dome and the usual evening rush hour.

The Braves wrapped up a 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers just before 3:30 p.m, while the U.S. men's national team's match with Jamaica is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Another match between Mexico and Panama is scheduled for 9 p.m. Both games are sold out.

As of 4:30 p.m., no major roadway incidents were reported in the downtown area, though the Georgia Department of Transportation’s website was already showing heavy congestion, especially in the Connector area.

Officials have warned that traffic is expected to be bad on the Connector southbound near Williams Street, and northbound near the Peachtree/Pine Street and Spring Street exits.

Those attending either either soccer match at the Georgia Dome are urged to take MARTA.
