A suspicious package that shut down the I-575 southbound exit to I-75 southbound Thursday morning is safe, authorities said.

Officials have not disclosed the contents of the package.

Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said the bomb squad was called to the area just before 9 a.m. after a driver saw a box fall off a truck. Special tactical teams were brought in to investigate the package soon after, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

At one point, traffic was diverted off of I-575 to Barrett Parkway and Chastain Road. The Georgia State Patrol assisted with traffic control.

Authorities determined there was no threat and traffic resumed as normal.
