Traffic was back to normal on Powder Springs Road in Marietta Wednesday after a Tuesday afternoon wreck brought down power poles and shut down the major thoroughfare for hours.

The poles were broken after three vehicles collided before 3:30 p.m. The wreck tied up traffic on Powder Springs Road well into Tuesday evening, Marietta police spokesman Officer David Baldwin said.

The original collision was between a car and a box truck, Baldwin said. The truck and car got tangled up and both hit a utility vehicle. The utility van hit a power pole which snapped, and then damaged a second pole.

The drivers of all three vehicles were injured, but only the box truck and utility vehicle drivers were taken to a local hospital.
