1.    Gov. Nathan Deal to address top officials: Deal is set to speak to the state's top education leaders and school superintendents followed by an address to most of Georgia's top police brass. 2.    Gwinnett mayor bitten by copperhead. Lois Salter, the mayor of Gwinnett's Berkeley Lake, recently warned residents to be on the lookout for copperhead snakes after experiencing a bite of her own. According to the mayor's message to residents, the venomous snakebite sent her to the hospital for three days and many weeks off her foot during recovery. [Read here]

3.    Braves rookie Swanson homers again. Shortstop Dansby Swanson got to jog the bases this time. The rookie hit his second career homer Wednesday, sending Nationals right-hander Lucas Giolito's 3-1 fastball into the left-field seats to lead off the seventh inning. That came a night after Swanson sprinted the bases for an inside-the-park homer. Swanson's homer put the Braves ahead 3-1 but they couldn't hold the lead and lost 5-4 in 11 innings. [Read here]
