1. HAWKS TO ANNOUNCE NEW COACH
Mike Budenholzer will be the Hawks new head coach. The Spurs top assistant coach was hired Tuesday to replace Larry Drew. News of the hiring was first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and later announced by the team. Budenholzer will be introduced at an 11 a.m. press conference Wednesday at Philips Arena.
2. ATLANTA HOME PRICES UP, BUT ONLY TO 1999 LEVELS
Though the region's home values jumped a whopping 19.1 percent in March compared to a year earlier, according to a monthly index released Tuesday, the gaudy growth rate reflects just how far values had tumbled in early 2012. Metro values hit rock bottom in March 2012, forced by foreclosures and other factors to a level not seen since 1995. But home prices are only one factor boosting the U.S. economy.
3. WHO'S THE FAMILY BREADWINNER?
A record number of American women — 40 percent — are the only or main earner in households with children, up from 11 percent in 1960.
4. EAST ATLANTA SHOOTINGS POSSIBLY LINKED, POLICE SAY
Police say at least five shooting incidents — each involving two male suspects — dating back to May 17, when Grant Park resident Saman Balkhanian, 22, was shot in the head and robbed while walking home from a Braves game, may be linked.
