Fans thinking about showing up to the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in full costume next month should check with their local theaters first.

AMC, one of the largest theater chains in the country, posted a statement to moviegoers on their website to "bring your lightsaber, turn it off during the movie, and leave the blaster and Darth Vader mask at home."

Here is the chain's full statement:

"AMC does not permit weapons or items that would make other guests feel uncomfortable or detract from the movie-going experience. Guests are welcome to come dressed in costume, but we do not permit masks. In short, bring your lightsaber, turn it off during the movie, and leave the blaster and Darth Vader mask at home."

People have also noticed signs with similar statements at Cinemark theaters. A Twitter user last month posted an image from a Los Angeles Cinemark Theater that stated, "no face coverings, face paint, or simulated weapons — including light sabers — will be allowed in the buildings."
